Aska Science College wins 50th Inter-College Cricket Champions Trophy, MKCG runners-up

Banja Bihar: Aska Science College team won the championship title for this year by defeating the MKCG Medical College, Berhampur in recently concluded Inter-College Cricket Tournament-2017 of Berhampur University by 6 wickets. The tournament was organized by the University Sports Council at the campus playground.

In the final match, Aska Science College team won the toss and chose to field first. The opponent scored a hooping total of 220 runs in 35 overs with a loss of 7 wickets. Chasing the target on team’s behalf, Ashutosh Yadav scored 108 runs from 74 balls while Nipen Kumar Sahu added 51 runs from 42 balls. For the losing team, Biswa Ranjan Sahu scored 50 runs from 62 balls, Kamaskhya Prasad Patra 45 runs from 42 balls and Bablu Kisku 44 runs from 30 balls. Durga Prasad Patnaik, Naresh Choudhury and Ashwini Mishra conducted the matches.

Dr. Siddhartha Sankar Panda, HoD of Physics handed over the trophies and certificates to both the winning and runners-up teams as the chief guest.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gouri Shankar Lal, Secretary of Sports Council, Rabi Charan Mishra, Rajesh Kumar Mohanty, S. Krishna Reddy and D. Rajeeya Reddy were present to encourage the players.
