During the
visit, Mr. Acharjya, who is also an alumnus of this university, had an
interaction with the students of the department.
Sharing
tips on good journalism, he said one, who is aspiring to be an anchor, should
have practical knowledge and background information on the topic or issue he or
she will be dealing with. The person must acquire A to Z knowledge on the
issue, otherwise he or she may not be a good journalist or a successful anchor,
he stated.
Speaking about
presentation skills, Mr. Acharjya stressed on language proficiency. He insisted
that pronunciation should be clear and spoken style must be emphatic.
Mr.
Acharjya expressed grief over the unethical practices of journalists around the
world. He opined that the news reports should be based on truth to achieve
credibility of the audience.
He reiterated
that media is considered the fourth pillar of democracy and journalists are equipped
with the most powerful weapon of the world i.e. pen. They can fan the fire of
change in the world at any time. Many journalists have already enlightened the
world with their proven honesty and integrity, he exalted.
Detailing
about the employability of journalism students in present scenario, Mr.
Acharjya said a lot of news channels are operating in India now. Those, who are
interested to pursue a career in electronic journalism, can grab the
opportunity, he added.
